    Gladys Kriese studied singing with Doris Mills Lewis in Winnipeg between 1947 and 1952 and then with Sidney Dietch in New York.
    On December 22, 1961, she made her Metropolitan Opera debut in New York in the party of the voice of Antonia's mother.
    Until 1966 she performed at the Met in 164 performances in parties such as Schwertleite in 'Die Walküre', Dryade in 'Ariadne auf Naxos' by Richard Strauss, Berta in 'Il Barbiere di Siviglia', un Pastore in 'Tosca', the Herbergierster in 'Boris Godoenov', Flosshilde and the 1.
